Dr. Bob Azzarito has been a pastor for over 35 years. Prior to becoming the pastor of the University Presbyterian Church, he led a campus program for students from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. Previously he served as an associate pastor, solo pastor and has worked as a marriage and family therapist, a business consultant, and recently published his first book entitied, "Your Fifth Year," a practical guide for first year college graduates.
Bob was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from California State University of Northridge with a degree in Political Science holds a M.A. in Church History from California State University of Fullerton, and a M.Div degree from Talbot Theological Seminary. He received his Doctorate from Regent/Carey College in Vancouver, BC, focusing his studies on the Spiritual Formation of Young Adults. He serves as the chairman of the board of directors for Students Helping Honduras, a non-profit, student led organization that works with poor families in El Progreso, Honduras.
He and his wife Sue met while they were in high school and were married after college. They have four adult children, Amy, Dorie, Shelley, and Matt. They also have three young grandchildren, Harper, Ethan, and Emma. His hobbies include sports of all kinds, especially golf, racquetball, bike riding, snowboarding, and frisbee. He enjoys reading novels, building things, playing with the grandkids, good movies, good food, and a good joke. He has lived in Los Angeles, CA, Siloam Springs, AR, San Carlos, CA, Fredericksburg, VA, and most recently in Sacramento, CA.
