Building Schools in Honduras
Education is the key to the future of Honduras, but many villages have poor or no schools available to their children. We have partnered with Students Helping Honduras and Sacramento Presbytery's campus ministry to build schools in Honduras.
In 2016 we worked with Elk Grove Presbyterian Church and raised the money to to fund the building of an entire school in the village of La Lima! A team of adults broke ground on the school in January and participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Other groups working with Students Helping Honduras and locals helped continue the project, and in August our young adults and college students arrived to finish laying the floors and painting!
We successfully built another school in 2017 at the Esteban Moya middle and high school in El Progreso.
Our group of adults and teenagers headed to Honduras in February to paint the school and break ground on the new high school in Villa Soleada.
A group of college students from Sacramento will head to Honduras in August to continue work on the new Villa Soleada High School.
