Building Schools in Honduras
Education is the key to the future of Honduras, but many villages have poor or no schools available to their children. We have partnered with Students Helping Honduras and Sacramento Presbytery's campus ministry to build schools in Honduras.
In 2016 we worked with Elk Grove Presbyterian Church and raised the money to to fund the building of an entire school in the village of La Lima! A team of adults broke ground on the school in January and participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Other groups working with Students Helping Honduras and locals helped continue the project, and in August our young adults and college students arrived to finish laying the floors and painting!
We aim to build another school in 2017, and aim to include more churches and members of the community, not only in the fundraising but to participate in the construction.
Another group of adults will be heading to Honduras in March 2017 to break ground, with the young adults completing the school in late July/ early August.
